Rotary Club of Carthage

Our mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. Our motto is "Service Above Self".

Rotary Club of Carthage is part of the largest service organization in the world, Rotary International with more than 1.4 million members. We come together to make positive, lasting changes in communities at home and abroad.

Rotarians believe that we have a shared responsibility to take action on our world's most persistent issues. In our club, we work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment. These efforts occur both locally and abroad.

In Panola county, we do this through fundraising campaigns. One example is "Pennies for Polio" where, in collaboration with 3rd and 4th graders, we raised $2,200 in pennies which added to the global efforts responsible for the near eradication of Polio. Each year, we also provide several scholarships to local high school graduates to attend Panola College. Other local service projects include "Dictionaries for School Children" which allowed us to purchase, dedicate, and distribute to every 3rd grader a dictionary, and "Clean up Panola County Day" where Rotarians assisted in picking up trash throughout the county. Last year, the Rotary Club was a key sponsor for a Crawfish Boil on the Carthage Downtown Square. This event raised funds for the Esquire Theater - the only theater in Panola County - which was built in 1949 and provides many people not only great memories of their childhood, but also great opportunities to spend time with their families throughout the year.

While we need money to continue our community projects, we would also love to have you join our club as an active member to put your hands and hearts to work serving the greater good.
