Since 1912, Children's Aid Society has provided services to Alabama families in need or at risk.

It has helped parents with the skills and resources they need to keep families together or, when children could not remain with their own families, other homes have been provided through foster care or adoption.

We provide services across Alabama with offices in Birmingham, Huntsville, Florence, Jasper, Montgomery, Dothan, and Mobile.


Current Programs

  • Adoption & Permanency Planning/Support: Statewide services for adoption information, counseling, home study completion, training, special events, and support groups for adult adoptee, birth parents, and adoptive families.
  • Family Preservation: Family support to those with at least one child at risk of removal due to abuse, neglect, or family instability. Transitional services:for young moms (ages 16-21) who are homeless or in foster care.
  • Prevention: Training for parents and middle school students regarding issues such as substance abuse, conflict resolution, peer pressure, and healthy decision making. Assistance to Hispanic families to connect to basic need resources. Educational services for youth in the state Independent Living Program, including statewide camps.
  • Alliance: Services to children and families at risk for, or victims of, child abuse/neglect. Risk factors include substance abuse, poverty, unemployment, lack of education, untreated mental disorders, isolation, and lack of support networks.
