Cathedral High School

To say the tornado in June 2011 knocked us off our feet (literally and figuratively) is an understatement, but through the hard work and dedication of many, many people, we are now ensconced at The Memorial School in Wilbraham and thriving in so many ways.

Our intent is to return to Surrey Road once the facility has been rebuilt.

We all know that Cathedral could use monetary assistance to help the new facility to be built, but in reality, we know that no one is going to invest their hard earned money in an organization unless they think it is on the right track, regardless of their good memories.  Over the past year, we have worked hard to clarify our message, focus on the strength of the school and proactively communicate what we are doing to create a school for the 21st Century.

What have we been doing?

• Cathedral has been accepted as an International Baccalaureate (IBDP) Diploma Programme Candidate School.  We are currently undergoing a rigorous process to become a full fledge “IB Diploma” school, which is considered the most prestigious secondary degree in the world.
• We started the Cathedral Advanced Program for gifted 8th grade students who have very strong academic credentials and are capable of accelerating their learning.
• Our partnership with the Faith & Reason Institute (FRI) in Washington, D.C. is proceeding well and is establishing Cathedral as a leader in Catholic education. We have created a religion honors course and are in the process of establishing an elective on Faith, Science and Reason.
