Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee Counties (Restoring Hope Campaign)

Through more than forty programs, Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee Counties provides food, shelter, clothing, counseling, and other critical services to those in need, regardless of faith.

To better serve a growing population of those in need, we are collaborating with other key agencies in our community who are targeting similar populations.

Through our Center for Hope campaign, we are working to raise funds so that we can make city-required upgrades to our existing building. Without these funds, we simply will be unable to meet the growing need for services in our community.

Located in one of the most economically depressed areas in the country, the need for our services continues to increase every year. As of this year, nearly 40 percent of Flint, Michigan's population was living in poverty, including two out of three children.

We need your help to continue feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and offering emergency services to the most vulnerable people in our community.

In the last year, Catholic Charities of Shiawassee & Genesee Counties:

-Served more than 184,000 meals to the hungry through the agency’s three soup kitchens and three sack lunch programs. This is a record number of meals served by Catholic Charities, and it continues to grow each year.

-Distributed nearly 300,000 clothing and personal items through the Community Closet in Flint. 

-Sheltered nearly 12,000 people, including 177 children, in the Warming Center from December through March.  The number of people seeking shelter from the cold has continued to increase every year since the Warming Center opened its doors.

-Provided counseling and guidance to more than 30,000 adults and children in the community.
