CAUSE

Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment (CAUSE) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, nonpartisan, community-based organization with a mission to advance the political and civic empowerment of the Asian Pacific American (APA) community through nonpartisan voter outreach, training, and education as well as leadership development.

Founded in 1993, CAUSE is comprised of committed professional, business, community and political leaders, and has established itself as a unique nonpartisan APA organization dedicated solely to APA civic and political participation. Based in the Greater Los Angeles area, CAUSE’s influence reaches throughout Southern California.

For 30 years, CAUSE has been fulfilling its mission by fostering leaders and advocates who work towards civically advancing Asian Pacific Islander (API) communities. While there has been progress in API civic leadership and advocacy, there is still much work to be done. API communities need advocates who are effective and understanding, who will amplify their voices and include them in civic processes.

Your gift can make a difference in efforts such as our flagship programs, the CAUSE Leadership Academy (CLA) for students and the CAUSE Leadership Institute (CLI) for professionals and in our new programs CAUSE on Campus (CoC) and Fall Internship. Your gift can support CAUSE in further increasing civic engagement accessibility and informing Elected Officials on the everchanging landscape of API communities. 

In 2022, CAUSE engaged over 10,000 people through VOTE Initiatives and equipped 41 participants with deeper skills to advocate for API communities. Now in 2023, CAUSE already has two programs well underway with one more starting in June and will continue to focus on providing culturally relevant voter resources and encouraging civic participation. In light of the recent surge in anti-Asian hate incidents, it is more important than ever to effect change. CAUSE is committed to being at the forefront of civic advocacy for API communities.
