Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI)
CCAI is a bipartisan non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. that raises awareness of the needs of children without families and advocates for permanent families for these children. By convening federal policymakers, issue experts and individuals with direct adoption, foster care and orphanage experience, CCAI works to ensure that every child knows the love and support of a family. Since 2001, CCAI has been a trusted source of objective information for policymakers seeking to make the dream of a family the reality for every child.

CCAI’s programs empower and provide a platform for children, youth and families to speak up for federal policy reforms that positively impact children in U.S. foster care and orphanages around the world. Your support allows us to:

  • Place college-aged foster youth in Congressional offices and key Committees on Capitol Hill through CCAI’s Foster Youth Internship Program ™ and support them as they write policy recommendations to improve foster care and brief Congress and the White House.
  • Recognize individuals and organizations that are making an extraordinary contribution on behalf of children in need of families through CCAI’s Angels in Adoption™ Program and provide them the opportunity to meet and engage with Members of Congress to improve policy so more children find their forever families.
  • Organize international and U.S. fact-finding trips to spotlight the needs of children in orphanages and foster care through CCAI’s 20/20 Vision Program and create dialogue among high-level government and business leaders in order to strengthen international and domestic policies and place more children in families.

Help us DEFY THE STATISTICS for children in orphanages and youth in foster care by placing them in families.

  • There are more than 415,000 children in the U.S. foster care system.
  • Approximately 108,000 children in foster care are waiting to be adopted.
  • In 2014, there were 6,441 international adoptions as compared to a peak of 22,000 foreign-born children were adopted by American families in 2004.
