The Central Coast Quality of Life Programs (CCQLP) recognizes that people living with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's disease have unmet needs. We are committed to filling these gaps by improving the quality of life of persons with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in California’s counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito by providing case management, support programs, education, and advocacy. Our programs also serve families living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) in Monterey County. We work with clients and their families to create comprehensive individual care plans and support programs that improve client independence. All of our services are free.
Due to the long, slow debilitating nature of MS and PD, clients often come to us in crisis, and we assist them in the most basic needs such as, housing, food, and insurance. We then start mending their safety net of family, health care providers, caregivers, etc. We guide and assist clients, encouraging and teaching them how to manage their own needs. CCQLP is aware that these two chronic illnesses have a profound impact on an individual’s physical, psychological and social well-being. Unlike major urban areas that have clinics devoted to the care of patients living with MS or PD, people living with these illnesses in our area have to cobble together and manage treatments with multiple healthcare specialists who often don’t communicate with each other. Add mobility issues, fatigue, anxiety/depression (symptoms common to both), and often times, financial difficulties, it becomes understandable why many people living with MS and PD find it difficult to cope with the disease and live independently.
CCQLP provides free local services such as:
Case Management Program
Water Aerobics Program
Support Groups
Equipment Reuse Program
Educational Events and Workshops
