Centro de la Familia de Utah was founded in 1975 by Latino leaders to provide programs and services that were responsive to the community’s needs and cultural values

Today Centro is a harbinger in the cultural and educational fields. It operates Head Start, Early Head Start, and Migrant & Seasonal Head Start programs in rural Utah that lead the nation with innovative practices. For example, our agency was the first in the nation to implement the Montessori curriculum in its Migrant Head Start programs. This is a remarkable accomplishment when we consider the fact that many of these childrens' parents have not completed their basic education themselves.

We believe that parental involvement is crucial to children's growth, development, and success. We are proud to develop and implement programs that foment parental involvement and family cohesiveness; programs that invest in children and youth, empower adults, and strengthen families.

Our Head Start and non-Head Start programs provide services that range from ensuring that pregnant women get the necessary prenatal services; to providing children ages 0 to 5 attain the social, motor, and linguistic skills to succeed in school; to giving adults a chance to finish their basic education.

We make of our programs a family learning experience.

We serve childen, youth, and adults in Salt Lake City, Genola, Centerfield, Mount Pleasant, Honeyville, Providence, Midvale, Provo, and Wendover.
