$5,000 Goal

Every day in our region, seniors lose independence, security, and millions of dollars to preventable financial exploitation—but it doesn’t have to happen.

THE PROBLEM

In Fauquier, Culpeper, Rappahannock, and Madison counties, approximately 25,000 seniors live in our region.

If just 1% fall victim to financial exploitation—losing an average of $50,000 each—the result is $12.5 million in community losses, along with profound emotional harm, loss of independence, and lasting trauma.  Many of these crimes are committed by financial predators who target and groom seniors for exploitation, both online and in person.

THE SOLUTION

The Center for Combating Elder Financial Abuse exists to prevent this harm before it happens. Through community training seminars for seniors, families, and caregivers, we help “harden the target,” equipping people to recognize scams, reduce vulnerability, and respond before losses occur. Education is the first line of defense.

THE IMPACT

If our outreach reduces victimization by just 10%, we can help prevent $1.25 million in losses and countless cases of emotional distress. In some cases, financial exploitation contributes to severe psychological harm, including depression, crisis, and suicide.

Now in our fifth year, we are expanding across the region and strengthening partnerships with sheriff’s departments, local law enforcement, Aging Together, and Rapp at Home.

YOUR SUPPORT

A $10 donation helps educate more seniors and expand prevention efforts. Every gift helps protect dignity, independence, and peace of mind.

Together, we can build a safer community for all seniors - thank you!
