Since 1995, the Center for Family Policy and Practice has conducted research, analysis, education, and outreach in support of low-income families by examining structural barriers to opportunity for mothers, fathers, and their kids. CFFPP operates as a policy think tank to remove the unique barriers and negative public perceptions that affect low-income men of color, particularly Black fathers. CFFPP has published ground-breaking analyses of child support debt and its impact on low-income families, social welfare policy barriers to opportunity, and the impact of comprehensive social services for poor men on the economic stability of women and children and the safety of domestic violence survivors. CFFPP's work contributes to the struggle for racial equity, and to reducing the disparities experienced by struggling men of color, and particularly African-American fathers.
