"I feel bless because from I arrived to the USA my life change. All change when I began to study in the CNA (Center for New Americans).  The most important thing was learn English for me. I love it. It's a new challenge, but I did it say myself! Now I feel comfortable with myself and very happy because I can speak with the people. And my thinking is "step by step". It's amazing, 37 years lived in Costa Rica and all those years never I had a lot opportunities like now than live in U.S.A. We bought a new house, my life is more relax now, I can study and work. Center for New Americans teaches English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), we teach basic computer skills, and we offer career pathways classes.  All our classes are free!

We guide immigrants who are looking for a job, filling out applications, preparing for interviews. We help them to become familiar with U.S. culture.

We introduce people to community resources so they can find housing, healthcare, support for their children.

We offer assistance with the citizenship application process, and we pair people with volunteer tutors. Our tutors learn almost as much about U.S. history and civics as the immigrants they coach!

We offer some immigration legal services.  Programs like DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) open doors for young people so they can go to school or work.

 

Recently, we organized Immigrant Voices: A Celebration of Arts at the Shea Theater in Turners Falls to showcase the diversity and talents of our immigrant community.
