Center for the Future of Arizona

More than a think tank, CFA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit “do tank” that combines research with collaborative partnerships and initiatives that serve the common good and drive the state’s economic prosperity, quality of life and civic health.

 

Two big ideas drive our work: The Arizona We Want and The Education We Need. The Arizona We Want efforts increase citizen engagement, trust and collaboration with community and state leaders.  The Education We Need initiatives innovate and redesign systems to prepare all students to succeed academically beyond high school. We believe that a well-educated, informed and connected population is the foundation for creating quality of life and opportunity for all Arizonans.

 

Dr. Lattie Coor, President Emeritus of Arizona State University and University of Vermont, is our Chairman and CEO. Dr. Sybil Francis, a public policy architect with leadership experience at the White House Office of Technology Policy and The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, is Executive Director.  They established CFA in 2002 to provide impartial analyses, drive collaborative, multi-sector partnerships and identify long-term solutions to the most challenging issues of our time.

CFA forwards a vision for Arizona in 2025 where:

• Arizona citizens and leaders actively pursue a common roadmap for the future;

• Arizona’s education system prepares all students for success in college, career and life and;

• Arizona’s civic and political culture is characterized by multi-sector collaborations that move citizen goals forward.

In both practice and theory, citizen goals are at the heart of all we do. Our efforts are focused on achieving results that only come with long-term planning, successful execution by Arizona leaders and, most importantly, the active and continuing involvement of the people of Arizona.
