Center for Open Science

One of the biggest challenges in moving science towards more openness is providing the research infrastructure to encourage and support it. Where do you store the data? How can multiple researchers, working from different locations, using their own tools, collaborate on a single project? How can they share that research with others easily, openly, and free of charge? 

The Center for Open Science (COS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the needs of the research community by providing open access to study plans, data, and papers, to quickly and effectively advance the solutions to the world's most pressing problems. In 2013 COS launched OSF, its flagship product, with the aim to provide free and open source project management support for researchers across the entire research lifecycle. With our Meetings, Registries, and Preprints services, OSF offers collaborative workflow tools, a robust means to share research results and papers and a flexible data storage repository.

These tools are free to use, but not free to build. COS creates, manages, and delivers the free open science products and services you love. Sustaining this level of commitment through ongoing support from many sources makes achieving the mission possible. Thanks to the faithful and consistent support of our donors, researchers can rely on the Center for Open Science to develop and maintain these free products and services. 

COS envisions a future in which the ideas, processes, and outcomes of research are supported, accurate, and openly accessible by default. In this future, all scholarly content would be preserved and connected and transparency would stand as an aspirational good for scholarly work. We need your help to make this future a reality.
