Central Virginia Small Business Development Center

The Central Virginia Small Business Development Center (CV SBDC) supports small businesses at all stages of their life cycle. We provide 1:1 free, confidential counseling, plus over 80 business topic-specific webinars and seminars at low/no cost every year, to all small businesses or entrepreneurs in our geographical area. Our office provides support to the City of Charlottesville plus 9 Central Virginia Counties, including Culpeper, Rappahannock and Madison. In 2022 the Central Virginia SBDC provided 5,205 hours of consulting to 574 clients. Of those clients, 56% were women, 31% were minorities, 7% were veterans. 

In 2023 we have a busy year planned for our northern Counties. The CV SBDC is providing programming for the Culpeper County Conference (4/26), Culpeper Competes business training and pitch competition (apps due 5/25, program 5/31-8/9), Madison Day and Business Expo, and Sperryfest. Central Virginia's SBDC fiscal host, the Community Investment Collaborative is hosting. is hosting a 16-week Entrepreneur Workshop at the George Washington Carver Community Center, beginning August 2023.

The Central Virginia Small Business Development Center is one of 27 SBDCs in Virginia, and one of the most active. Our financial support comes from the Counties we serve, the SBA, our fiscal sponsor Community Investment Collaborative, grants, and from individual supporters like you.
