CESC has been meeting community needs since 1986. CESC now operates energy-savings and building improvement programs in Alameda County, Contra Costa County, and Marin County. These programs benefit seniors, low-income residents, and small businesses.

Our largest financial need is support for our Oakland Home Repair Program. Everyone deserves a safe and healthy home. Yet in the San Francisco Bay Area, many older homes are in a state of deterioration. In Alameda County, 45,000 housing units have moderate to severe physical problems. Many residents lack the knowledge, strength or resources to make needed repairs, especially seniors on fixed incomes who may additionally be wary of strangers coming to their homes. The result is unsafe structures that are dangerous to live in.

The Home Repair Program provides critical health and safety home repairs for low-income residents at no charge. This program is a strategic intervention for seniors that helps create safe, healthy housing, making clients more resilient.

Your donation enables our Home Repair Program to serve more low-income seniors in 2017. Your generous gifts increase the number of households we are currently able to reach and help Oakland seniors take care of their homes for their continued health and safety, peace of mind, and dignity.

Another client, Ms. Goode, received assistance for some basic maintenance in her home such as: a fixed kitchen faucet, four replaced window screens, four smoke detectors with new and tested batteries, two new grab bars at the back door, and a rebuilt side gate.
