Since 1997, Chamber Music at The Barn (CMATB) has provided professional chamber music during the summer months to music lovers in Wichita and surrounding communities in a casual country setting.  Beginning by offering only three concerts that first year, eleven concerts were offered in the 2013 season and two additional during the winter months. CMATB has grown to become the only chamber music festival of its kind in Kansas.  Today, as programming and audiences have expanded, a large-screen closed-circuit television has been installed in the garden complete with world-class sound to mirror the concerts in the air-conditioned concert barn and accommodate audiences who prefer dining while listening/watching from the garden.

Classical chamber music has always been the mainstay of CMATB’s programming.  Wichita Symphony musicians, Wichita State University, and Friends University music faculty regularly perform on the concert stage, as well as internationally-known artists such as the New Zealand String Quartet, The Four Nations Ensemble, Pro Arte, and the Boston Brass.  Specific concerts have been added to diversify—attracting younger audiences and those with different musical preferences.  They include folk, jazz, bluegrass and other alternative chamber music performed by internationally-acclaimed artists such as—Mike Marshall, Trio Globo, Darol Anger, and Elana James.
