Since 2013, the California HMong Advocates Network (CHAN) and the California organizers of the Building Our Future (BOF) campaign have joined forces through grassroots efforts to educate and empower HMong communities in Fresno, Merced, and Sacramento in the movement toward ending gender-based violence. Over the past five years, CHAN-BOF has been fortunate to receive support in developing these key initiatives that we would love to extend the opportunity for you to help us sustain:

  1. The Peace Collaborative, a network of community partners from various professions and sectors, who are committed to being agents of change to increase the safety of HMong families through research, engaging the community, as well as deepen professional relationships amongst partners that strengthen a referral process to increase access to services for victims and survivors.
  2. Our Mobile Advocacy Program provides culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate domestic violence advocacy and support services for HMong victims and survivors through trained HMong advocates.
  3. In October 2023, the leadership of CHAN-BOF felt ready to expand our work and decided that we will spin off and incorporate as our own 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are currently setting up the foundations for incorporation, and we hope to raise enough unrestricted revenue by the end of the year to make a smooth transition.

Every donation, regardless of size, is deeply appreciated. Your contribution will ensure that HMong victims, survivors, and their families receive vital support and culturally responsive services by helping us to continue hosting weekly wellness groups, where HMong community members in Fresno, Merced, and Sacramento counties can gather to learn about wellness and self-care practices, fostering healthier and safer relationships, and ultimately enhancing their quality of life.

CHAN-BOF's mission is to build movement towards ending gender-based violence by shifting cultural norms in the HMong and underserved communities. We envision a community where youth, women, Queer and Trans folks and their families are healthy, free from violence, and thrive from generation to generation. We value Gender Equity, Queer and Trans Justice, Survivor-Centeredness, & Collective Leadership.
