The vision of CADDC is to create an inclusive community that embraces everyone who share a love and passion for African drumming, dance, and culture. We offer weekly dance classes for both youth and adults, along with drum workshops.  Our programs also include a regular children's dance initiative, drum instruction for all ages, drum circles, and specialized programs for senior dancers and drummers. Additionally, we provide performance opportunities for community members to celebrate holidays such as Black History Month, Juneteenth, and Kwanzaa.

WHAT WE DO:

  • Offer low-cost traditional West African Dance classes for children and adults with live drumming every Sunday.

  • Expand opportunities for communities of color or individuals with ancestral roots in the African diaspora to participate in African dance and drum classes.

  • Benefit residents living in areas designated as Opportunity Zones by increasing access to classes.

  • Provide drum and dance instruction led by professional instructors who collectively bring over 30 years of experience to the arts.

  • Perform in the community and showcase our talents through live televised performances on WBTV Charlotte, Juneteenth festivals and during the annual Kwanzaa Charlotte.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

As a supporter of African Arts, your contributions go a long way and help us keep our classes and events affordable for the Charlotte community. Your support will also help us cover operational expenses so that we can continue to engage the public with cultural dance and drum opportunities.

  • Each $250 gift will allow CADDC to host a drum workshop for one month with a professional drummer.

  • Each $100 gift will provide water and snacks for each children's class for one month.
