What is CSAN all about?

The Charter School Association of Nevada (CSAN) was founded in 2008 by leaders in the charter school community. Charter schools are unique public schools that are allowed the freedom to be more innovative while being held accountable for advancing student achievement. They are tuition-free, and are open to all children. Charter schools provide school options and empower parents to choose the best educational environment for their kids. As an organization, we are committed to promoting innovation, quality and accountability in Nevada's charter schools.

During the 2012-2013 school year, there were 30 charter schools that were serving 21,869 of Nevada's children. Two more opened in the fall of 2013, and more are expected to open during the fall of 2014!

What does CSAN do for charter schools?

CSAN has 2 part-time staff that help provide resources to schools and to the public. During 2013, CSAN kept school members informed on legislative issues,  published a Charter School Directory, and hosted an annual conference that had seminars for school adminstrators, board members, and teachers.

Why should I support CSAN?

Your donation will enable us to expand our advocacy for and support of Nevada's charter schools through leadership opportunities, professional development, resource sharing, and through providing a public policy voice. Many times, charter schools are over-looked when developing policy, but with a CSAN representative attending Board of Education meetings and Legislative Education Committee meetings, as well as developing relationships with Nevada's policy makers, we can make sure the charter schools have a unified voice.
