Our mission is to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer through education, prevention, and assistance. We educate our community on breast health awareness and prevention of breast cancer to help save lives. We offer direct assistance to breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment with free new wigs.

WIG OUT program: We have assisted over 700 women battling breast cancer with FREE new wig. We are currently assisting close to one woman a day with a free new wig.

Don't be a Chump! Check for a Lump! campaign: We distribute 40,000 breast health pamphlets every year to educate women on the facts regarding breast cancer and the many ways women can lower their risk of breast cancer.

My Story There is absolutely nothing pretty about pink when you are told you have breast cancer and you have to go through chemotherapy and you are going to lose your hair and be completely bald. When you think of a woman losing her hair you may think it is simply a matter of vanity, but it is so much more than that. It is our identity as a woman, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, friend. It’s everything.

I can attest to this. My name is Holly Rose and I was thirty-nine years old when I diagnosed with breast cancer. Losing my lose my hair was one of the most devastating side effects of my chemotherapy. Again, it wasn’t vanity. It was the fact that my youngest daughter would not hug me if I wasn’t wearing a wig. I just didn’t look like mommy any longer. I looked like the face of cancer and I scared her.

I was very fortunate that I could walk into a wig shop, pick out a beautiful wig that looked exactly like me . . .  like mommy.  I discovered that there were many women out there who were forced to go without a wig simply due to lack of funds. Unfortunately most insurance companies do not cover the cost of a wig.

While going through breast cancer I was showered with so many acts of kindness. It was life-changing for me. I wanted to give back and so, I founded Don’t be a Chump! Check for a Lump! to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer through education, prevention and direct assistance through our Wig out pgorgram that provides free wigs to breast cancer patients.

Our Wig Out program is extremely innovative! It is different from every other wig program in our state.  Others operate as a wig bank with limited choices on hand. Our program is not a wig bank. Our clients have the privilege of walking into a normal wig shop and selecting any wig of her choice so she too can look just like herself and we pay the bill, up to $250.

This year over 240,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. Over 4500 of these women will reside here in Arizona. A large majority of these women will lose their hair. This year we have already assisted 220 women with a free wig. We are providing on average one wig a day.

You can provide one free every year with a $20 monthly donation! Together, we can bring every breast cancer patient the comfort and normalcy she deserves while going through one of the most terrifying times in her life.  Together we can make a difference. One very special wig at a time.
