Chesapeake Bay Trust

The Chesapeake Bay Trust is a nonprofit grant-making organization, sparking on-the ground change in communities throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed.  Since its inception in 1985, the Trust has awarded more than $40 million in grants and engaged hundreds of thousands of citizen stewards in projects that have a measurable impact on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Fully 90 percent of the Trust’s donations are directed to Chesapeake Bay restoration and education programs.

In 2010 the Trust grants:

• Removed 553 tons of trash
• Restored 47 acres of wetlands, oyster reefs and buffers
• Created 363,639 square feet of rain gardens
• Planted 115,665 native plants and trees
