Clark Park Boathouse Fundraising Inititiave
LPJ Chicago is Chicago's team - we were founded in 1998 with a grant from the U.S. Olympic Committee to make rowing accessible and affordable to students throughout Chicago. We allow any student the ability to row, regardless of the ability to pay. We don't distinguish between private school or public school, race or gender - we simply invite any student who wants to work hard, the ability to realize their potential and dreams. We are a nationally ranked team, and one of the fastest teams in the Midwest, in addition to being the only rowing club in Chicago that meets the needs of Junior and Master (Adult) rowers, elite and recreational athletes.
Through a partnership with the Chicago Park District, the City of Chicago, and the generosity of private and public funds, LPJ Chicago will soon call the new boathouse on the great Chicago River, Clark Park, home. Our current boathouse, on the back channel of the Chicago River, lacks running water and heat - it is difficult to put into words our gratitude to relocate the majority of our programs to Clark Park and what the boathouse means to us. Not only is it a home to our kids, it will be a building filled with hopes, dreams, and ability to reach your full potential. We believe that one day, we will send a rower to the Olympics, and they will proudly say, "I rowed at Clark Park."
Embrace the opportunity to empower the lives of current and future rowers, and realize the power of one - one individual can make a difference. You can make a difference, help us reach our goal.
