The Child Center of Ny Inc

We are a multiservice agency, annually reaching more than 21,700 New York City children from birth through young adulthood at 50 clinic, school, and community locations.   We offer a lifeline to children who are experiencing poverty, emotional problems,  child abuse, academic failure, and other challenges that threaten their achievement.  Our staff includes highly educated and trained master’s level social workers, teachers, psychiatrists, nurses, tutors, and youth counselors who collectively speak 25 languages. 

 

Our services fall into four main areas: 

 

Early Childhood Development including Early Head Start (from pregnancy to age 3) and Head Start (ages 3 to 5) to ensure that children who are born into poverty arrive in kindergarten ready to learn. 

 

Individual & Family Counseling to help troubled children and families cope with the problems they face—such as emotional or behavior problems, substance abuse, and trauma.

 

Child Abuse Prevention to protect and heal children, guide parents, provide family therapy, and to avoid, if possible, the need for foster care placement. 

 

Youth Development, including tutoring, after-school programs, vocational guidance, pregnancy prevention, college readiness, vocational guidance and employment, plus a depth and breadth of programs to promote safety, enrichment, and achievement among children ages 5 through 21.
