We are also an affiliate of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association. As an affiliate, we are responsible for operating the CASA program in Santa Clara County according to the national guidelines, which entails recruiting, training and supporting CASA Volunteers.
We believe having an Advocate – a CASA Volunteer – is the intervention a child needs to reduce the impacts of having experienced trauma. Studies show children with a CASA Volunteer receive more educational and health services; are more likely to find a safe, permanent home; perform better in school; and spend less time in foster care than children without a CASA Volunteer.
Child Advocates of Silicon Valley was 1 of 3 CASA programs in the country recognized at the highest level, in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation Change-Makers in Child Welfare 2020 report! This report highlights organizations across the country working to improve the services they provide to the LGBTQ community.
