Children in Need Inc

NEARLY  HALF of the children enrolled in Washington County, Maryland schools are living in poverty. These children have a significantly higher risk to drop out of school.  Children in Need of Washington County is a nonprofit organization devoted to ensuring that these at-risk children have the basic needs all the way to that special graduation day. 

Every Wednesday and Friday from 8:30am-12pm clients (parents/guardians) are able to visit the CIN Center to shop for gently used clothing, and new underclothes, toiletries, school supplies and books.  These goods are free to the family and family members are also eligible to receive clothing.   Clients are eligible to come to the Center once a month, anytime during the month, all year round.  (During Covid, clients are using a curbside pickup process).  All clients are required to re-enroll on July 1st of each year. Their eligibility is determined by the federally funded Free And Reduced Meals programs. 

This organization has two full-time employees and over 70 volunteers. These volunteers give over 90 hours each month. We could not help these children without the wonderful volunteers.
