The Children’s Home Society of Idaho operates the Warm Springs Counseling Center, and our mission is to provide mental, emotional and behavioral health care for children and their families, regardless of ability to pay.

Our clinicians are leaders in their field, with specialized skill sets necessary to care for children suffering from physical and emotional abuse, grief, depression, anxiety; children with eating disorders and self-esteem issues, children diagnosed as bi-polar, children in the foster system and children who have experienced unspeakable trauma… children who need access to highly specialized clinicians in order to provide them with the coping skills they need to thrive and succeed.

The need for children’s mental healthcare is more crucial than ever. Did you know that more children and young people in the U.S. die from suicide than those who die from cancer?

• 96 Idaho school children died by suicide in the past 4 years.

• One-half of all chronic mental illness begins by the age of 14.

• 70% of Idaho juveniles in custody have a mental health diagnosis.

• One in five children have a diagnosable mental health disorder during childhood, and

• Nearly 50% of students, aged 14 and older with these conditions drop out of high school.

We currently serve over 100 children every day, with 62% receiving subsidized services. Each and every one of these children has a compelling story, and if we can treat emerging mental health problems before they become more serious, we can prevent illnesses reaching crisis stage and prevent the ramifications that go far beyond the emergency room.

This financial year we are projecting:

• we will provide 14,770 subsidized counseling sessions

• to 1,107 children

• at a cost of $785,427.
