Choice in Aging Giving Tuesday Campaign
The dream for our Aging in Place Campus has a very exciting opportunity to DOUBLE YOUR DONATION. We applied and were accepted to USA Today Network’s “A Community Thrives Challenge Campaign” sponsored by the Gannett Foundation. When we raise a minimum of $6,000 before August 13th, not only will the money get matched, but we will also be considered for a $100,000 Project Grant! There are other exciting (and lucrative) incentive bonus grants throughout the campaign getting us ever closer to the reality of a place where all members of our community will age on their own terms with the housing, support and services they need to do so.
For over 70 years Choice in Aging has been an innovator, creating programs that allow more people to age with dignity and independence. Your support is crucial to leading the way for a national model that is sure to become the “Gold Standard” for breaking down generational barriers and honoring the joy and enrichment elders bring to our community. INNOVATIVE INDEPENDENCE: Aging In Place Campus
Where do you want to live when you are elderly? We know it isn’t a nursing home.
Since 1949 Choice in Aging (CiA) has been providing adult day health and social services needed to keep elders and the disabled living independently, in their own homes. Our programs are models for care in California and around the country.
Now, we are poised to create a national, replicable model for how we age in place on our own terms with housing, support and the services needed to do so.
Although Amrericans have gained three decades of life in the last century, the existing model of care remains unchanged from the 1920’s. CiA has a realistic vision of how to change the antiquated status quo and provide seniors wrap-around services where they live.
We plan to build:
81 one-bedroom apartments for housing for low income seniors developed by Satellite Affordable Housing Associates
A state of the art Adult Day Health Care program, physical therapy space, sensory room, meditation room, activity spaces and outdoor gardens
Wraparound cognitive and health services for seniors living independently at the Aging in Place Campus and in the surrounding community
Space for community-based health and social care programs including aging workforce development programs, caregiver training and support groups
New Choice in Learning Montessori Preschool to continue intergenerational learning and and all of the inherent benefits of it
Evidence based research shows that wraparound services improve the health of recipients and save taxpayer dollars by keeping people at home and out of skilled nursing facilities. The pandemic proved that if you are confined to a skilled nursing facility you are going to have a bad outcome, something we have known at Choice in Aging for over 70 years.
Join us on this groundbreaking mission to ensure that our beloved elders (you, too may be fortunate enough to be an elder one day) receive the dignity and quality of life they deserve.
