Challenging Childhood Poverty in Greater Cleveland

New this year: Early Giving begins Sunday, November 19th

Since 1916 the Christ Child Society of Cleveland (a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization) has worked to meet the changing needs of children in the Greater Cleveland community.

We work directly with over 60 social service agencies, healthcare facilities, and schools in Cuyahoga and Lorain Counties to identify under-resourced, in crisis, and at-risk children who would benefit from our services.

   Each year, the Christ Child Society of Cleveland touches the lives of over 12,000 children and their families through our programs, such as winter coat distribution. 

This is made possible with the generous support of our donors and over 17,500 volunteer hours from our members, like those helping with bed distribution.Amazing volunteers! 
Over 50 children received new beds on 10-21-23.

Our programs are designed to specifically address needs relating to poverty – and its impact on children. In basest terms, poverty can be defined as a lack of resources – monetary resources, material resources, educational resources, etc. By providing for basic material needs and fostering educational development, we help to reduce resource disparities and create an equalizing effect for the children we serve. 

We are all guided by a common mission of seeing the Christ Child in every child. Our members are moved to action by our Founder, Mary Virginia Merrick, who said,

"Nothing is ever too much to do for a child."
