At Christian Heritage we strive to extend the love of Christ to orphans, at-risk children and their families.

Christian Heritage is one of the largest foster care agencies in the state of Nebraska.  On any given day we are supporting close to 200 children in the foster care system.  The challenge is, we turn away close to 900 children per year because we don't have enough families that will, or can, take sibling groups and teenagers. 

 

We work with incarcerated fathers in our Destination...Dad program by giving them skills and tools to be responsible and caring parents.  Our goal is to make sure that their children stay at home, in school and out of trouble.  After they have take the classes that we offer we help to reconnect them with their children.  This is done 4 ways.  Through our program fathers can earn 15 extra minutes of phone time to talk to their kids, parent-teacher skype, DVD's from Dad(we video the dads reading to their kids), and a once per month 2 hour Daddy Day visit.

 

We are also working with children who have been languishing in foster care to build "lifetime networks of support" of at least 5 familiy members or supportive adults before they turn 19 years old and age out of the system. 

 

Gregg and Lisa Nicklas have spent much of their lives caring and advocating for children who really don't have a voice and are in the situation they are in due to no fault of their own.
