TOP SIX THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS BOX INTERNATIONAL

 

1. Since its creation in 1998, The Christmas Box International served more than 8,400 unique children in Utah and internationally. Whether providing clothing and diapers to a newborn infant in Salt Lake City or helping a teen aging out of foster care with a caring mentor, our programs help kids from infancy to adulthood.
 

2. Christmas Box Houses in Salt Lake, Ogden and Moab are 24/7 emergency shelters that receive children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect; often those hardest to place directly into foster care--sibling groups and those with special needs. From therapy to field trips, our resource centers focus on every child’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. 
 

3. Christmas Box Rooms located from Moab to Ogden offer everything from clothing and shoes to school supplies and toys for children in foster care and for children still at home, but at risk of abuse or neglect, to help them remain in their homes.
 

4. Our volunteers helped us gather more than $700,000 of new clothing, school supplies, hygiene items, blankets, toys, etc. last year. And we believe in being a good partner! Internationally we provided resources for nearly 1,200 children in India, Kenya and Haiti, Mexico, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia.
 

5. During the holidays, we kick off our annual Project Elf program, a statewide effort to provide a special Christmas to those children at risk of abuse or neglect but who remain in their homes. Donated toys and basic needs items were given to more than 2,700 children statewide.
 

6. For 588 young adults leaving foster care to adulthood, the JourneyUP Mentor Project (JUMP) offers support. CBI provided mentors and access to community resources to these at-risk youth, as well as support Youth Summits, DCFS events that provide skill building in advocacy, leadership, housing, employment and educational resources.
