History

The Cisco Center was established in June 2008 as a small summer camp program for pre-school aged children. We soon realized the need for a year round childcare facility for children with special needs and we’re still the only childcare center for children with special needs in Anne Arundel County. We quickly outgrew the temporary location and bought a house in December 2009. The house was re-zoned as a commercial property and additional services such as Occupational Therapy and Parents’ Night Out were added. A devastating fire occurred in February 2010 and we temporarily re-located to the Vineyard Child Care Center in Millersville. In April 2010 we changed our name to the Cisco Center Foundation, Inc., became a non-profit organization, and established our Board of Directors.

Student Population

The students attending the Cisco Center come from many communities in Anne Arundel County including: Glen Burnie, Pasadena, Severna Park, Arnold, Annapolis, Crofton, Fort Meade, Millersville, Edgewater, Severn, Deal, and Gambrills. The Cisco Center serves children with a wide variety of special needs including: autism, Asperger’s syndrome, Down’s syndrome, behavior disorders, communication delays, and special medical needs. The children do not have to be toilet trained and many children have feeding issues or require special diets.

Programs

The Cisco Center offers: full day programs; half-day programs; childcare; respite care; before and after school care; as well as a wide variety of summer camp programs.
