Southwest Utah is a special place of unparalleled beauty. Our signature scenic vistas, accessible open space, and clean air are all qualities worth protecting for future generations. Washington County continues to be one of the West’s most desirable places to live. As our area grows, the need for citizen involvement to protect the things we value about our place becomes increasingly important.

Working together since 2006 we have shared many successes with our community of supporters.

  • In 2009 our members stopped a dirty coal plant from being built just 45 minutes from St. George.
  • CDF supporters let lawmakers know we value our open space and encouraged the designation of two National Conservation Areas: Beaver Dam Wash and Red Cliffs. These areas are now permanently protected for all future generations.
  • We continue to push back against the Lake Powell Pipeline. CDF members took action and defeated 3 bad bills in the Utah State Legislature that would have taxed all Utahns for this wasteful project. We recently took a seat on Governor Herbert's 50 year Water Planning Task Force.
  • Dedicated volunteers have joined together to form Southwest Utah National Conservation Land Friends (SUNCLF) a group that is actively involved in land restoration, education and stewardship.

Our successes come from people like you getting involved and making a difference. Together we can create a better future.  Join us in our efforts to keep Southwest Utah an amazing place to call home.
