Citizen Schools California is dedicated to helping all children discover and achieve their dreams. We partner with middle schools in low-income Bay Area communities to provide a longer learning day rich with opportunities. Our deep partnerships with schools connect the resources of communities, companies, governments, and philanthropists, unlocking the potential of young people and putting them on a trajectory toward success in high school, college, and career.

By providing RELEVANCE, VOLUNTEERS, and RESOURCES, Citizen Schools creates impact in: 

• English Language Arts and math proficiency by supporting the classroom teachers during the school day;
• High school readiness by providing academic and homework support, hands-on learning experiences, family engagement, and field trips to college campuses, companies (like Google, Cisco, and SanDisk), and other community institutions;
• College and career readiness 61% of Citizen Schools alumni are enrolled in college (compared to 41% of their national peers). Our students are twice as likely to participate in college and career activities;
• Citizen School students gain up to 5 months of learning per year;
• More than 80% of students who participate in STEM-focused apprenticeships express interest in a STEM career, compared to only one-third of 8th grade students nationally.

Your support, at any level, will deliver inspiration and hands-on opportunity for nearly 800 middle school students attending high-poverty schools in the Bay Area.
