D.U.S.T.O.F.F. is derived from the radio call sign given to the 57th Medical Detachment aeromedical helicopter evacuation unit in Vietnam (1962) and stands for Dedicated, Unhesitating Support To Our Fighting Forces.
CDF Founder/CEO Charles Claybaker personally experienced "the last ride off the battle field" when the CV-22 Osprey he was in went down in Zabul Province, Afghanistan on 09 Apr 2010.
When the idea of the foundation first came about Charles felt that the term D.U.S.T.O.F.F. embodied the mission of what he wanted to do and why he wanted to do it. From there, Claybaker D.U.S.T.O.F.F. Foundation was born.
Charles is a St. Pete, FL native. He enlisted with the US Army in May 2006 under a Ranger contract and was assigned to A Company, 3rd Ranger Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment in November 2006. SSG Claybaker served with 3/75 RGR RGT for six years.
It was during his fifth tour in April 2010 that he was severely injured in a CV-22 Osprey crash in Afghanistan. Post injury Charles remained with 3/75 RGR RGT as Senior Armorer and Ranger Recovery Section Squad Leader until he was medically retired from the Army in December 2011.
Military awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, 3 Foreign Airborne (Chile, Guatemala, Ecuador) wings, 2 Good Conduct Medals, EIB, CIB, Airborne wings, Ranger tab, 4 AAM, 2 ARCOM, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Star, Afghanistan campaign medal w/ star, GWOT medal, and USA/USAF Presidential Unit Citation.
