Effective, Non-Judgmental Peer Coaching
Addiction impacts people from all walks and stages of life. And for every person with addiction, three to four loved ones are directly affected. The personal, social, and economic toll of the disease is felt in every sector of the community. Too often, people in active addiction are disconnected from their family, friends, and community at large. Once they receive the help they need, these connections are rebuilt and can make a meaningful difference in long-term recovery. People rebuild relationships with family, improve their work performance, and become engaged community members. Helping people get well ultimately strengthens communities.
Face It TOGETHER welcomes people looking for help with open arms; no one is met with judgment. Face It TOGETHER cares for members by harnessing the power of data, shared experience, and community. Peer coaches and members build relationships through a common past, addiction, and a common goal, wellness. Wellness is monitored and evaluated holistically with the Recovery Capital Index (RCI). These assessments empower members to work with coaches as they create their own wellness roadmap.
This collaborative partnership helps members find purpose. By breaking the isolation associated with addiction and reconnecting with their families, friends, and passions, members find motivation to further their own wellness. Peer coaches walk alongside to provide support, guidance, feedback, and encouragement. This impacts many aspects of the members’ lives and provides stability, especially related to members’ employment. Hear what our members have to say about their experience!
According to a 2019 study of Face It TOGETHER's data, baseline measurements of members’ initial RCI scores show that 100% of members reported their addiction had a negative impact on their employment status. After just 30 days of coaching, 72.4% of members indicated this was no longer true. At 60 days, this number increased to 88.9% and at 90 days it rose to 93.1%. Reconnecting with their family and passions – in addition to a more stable work environment – creates a cycle of success for members and assists them in reaching their wellness goals. In 2018, Face It TOGETHER partnered with an outside firm to conduct a study on the financial impact and social return on investment of peer coaching. This study found that for every $1.00 invested in peer coaching for loved ones, $2.58 in economic, social, and personal return was generated. The same study reported that for every $1.00 invested in peer coaching for persons with disease, $12.40 was returned in benefits to the community. This full study, Social Return on Investment, can be found on Face It TOGETHER's website.
A real solution to addiction, one community at a time.
Face It TOGETHER has been in operation since 2009, starting first in Sioux Falls, SD, and has expanded its reach across the nation thanks to our ability to conduct peer coaching remotely (via video and phone). We provide peer coaching for anyone impacted by drug or alcohol addiction, including loved ones. In 2019 and 2020, 1,805 individuals contacted us with interest from 37 states; 612 individuals, from 24 states, participated in coaching. Our members are in need of effective, nonjudgmental support for their challenges related to addiction. They need a trusted source who can help them further their recovery, in addition to referring them to outside providers for additional support when necessary. Often, once the most pressing issues related to addiction are addressed, other areas of our members’ lives are improved, including family support, community involvement and physical and mental health.
The Mission of Face It TOGETHER is to get people with addiction and their loved ones well.
We envision a nation that has solved the disease of drug and alcohol addiction.
