Cohasset Maritime Institute (CMI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) community organization dedicated to promoting Cohasset’s unique maritime history by promoting ocean rowing as a lifelong passion.  Now over 25 years old, CMI has grown from a small alternative high school rowing program to one that currently services more than 250 residents from across Massachusetts’ south shore.  Our programs offer the opportunity to enjoy the coastal waters of Cohasset, Scituate and Hull while experiencing the teamwork, camaraderie and sportsmanship involved in ocean rowing.  CMI is led by a dedicated all-volunteer Board and runs its programs from its historic boathouse location on the Cohasset Harbor.

Since 1994, hundreds of local youth have participated in CMI’s programs.  CMI offers year round rowing programs to students in grades 7 through 12, including land and water training, and education and racing across eastern Massachusetts from Cape Ann to Plymouth.  CMI alumni have gone on to earn scholarships and participate in collegiate rowing programs.

CMI provides students great summer jobs working as coxswains for CMI teaching rowing skills to others and learn to lead.  In addition, CMI has year round programs for area adults, offering members both competitive and/or recreational rowing experiences starting with learn-to-row, and accommodating a wide range of rowing abilities, strengths and intensities.
