The College Fund of Pinellas County is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization run entirely by volunteers. We raise money in order to help financially disadvantaged Pinellas County residents who have excellent scholastic potential, but insufficient funds to obtain a bachelor’s degree and thereby improve themselves, their family’s living standard, and their role in the community.
Grants are typically $1,000 per school year ($500 per semester) for up to four years; however, retention in the program is dependent upon a review of student grades, course load, and financial need after each semester.
College Fund directors remain in contact with student recipients to monitor their academic progress and support them in their educational pursuits. In our 52 years of service our all-volunteer, tax-exempt organization has awarded over one million dollars in scholarships to over 760 county residents, enabling them to attend accredited colleges and universities.
The College Fund has no paid employees. The financial contributions from its Directors and Advisors exceed its administrative costs; therefore, 100% of the donations from the public are used to support students. More information about the College Fund of Pinellas County, Inc. can be found on our website: www.collegefundpinellas.org
We are pleased to be providing grants to 61 students for the 2016-2017 school year, 36 to continuing recipients and 25 to new recipients selected from among 36 applicants in August 2016. There are many more students with exceptional scholarship and significant financial need whom we could help, if we only had the money. Won’t you please consider sending a tax deductible contribution to Give Day Tampa Bay for us?
