Collins Band Boosters

A nonprofit organization

$200 raised by 7 donors

Martha Layne Collins High School was established in 2010 to relieve the overcrowding of Shelby County High School on the east side of the county by providing a state of the art facility on the west side of the county.

SCHS prides itself with their music and arts programs and is a well established program. With the addition of MLCHS the band program began with several new instruments and uniforms. The CHS Band Boosters was organized and many of the boosters parents donated money and supplies to begin our grilling at the football games each week. With the generous help of the corrections facility loaning and delivering a grill for each game all money for the first two years was used to support the band programs and purchase our first grills.

During years three and four the band program has grown from 30 students to 70. Our students continue to strive to be the best and have added a Jazz ensemble, indoor drumline and began competing with the KHSAA.

During the fifth year of the organization the boosters purchased a 20 ft trailer to haul equipment to competitions. Our 2015 - 2016 goals are to build out the interior with racks and lockers for uniforms and equipment. The first expenses for the year though will be building the props for the marching season and registration fees for competitions.

These students gain so much being part of the band programs at MLCHS that will help them to grow.
