Vision
The Colorado Conservatory of Dance will be a responsible and stable national model of excellence in dance, health & wellness, and non-profit management.
Values
With direction, purpose, and intent, the Colorado Conservatory of Dance creates a healthy and generous environment where students, parents and community members are nurtured and encouraged to develop their most creative and fulfilled selves. We responsibly pursue our mission with high standards and high expectations. We value mentorship and partnership, and we believe that dance should be available and accessible to all.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Colorado Conservatory of Dance, an anti-racist organization, supports BBIPOC, AAPI, LGBTQIA+, differently-abled, and neurodiverse peoples, as well as those who have been historically marginalized, oppressed, or underrepresented in our society. We believe in respect for all perspectives, the value of creativity, the power of art, and treating other humans with dignity and kindness. We will not be silent. We will use our platform to end discrimination in the arts.
Land Acknowledgement
Colorado Conservatory of Dance would like to acknowledge that our facility and performance venues are located on the traditional lands of the first people of Colorado—the Núuchi (Ute), Tsistsistas (Southern Cheyenne), Hinono’ei (Arapaho), Diné (Navajo), Jicarilla Apache, and Ancestral Pueblo (Anasazi).
We acknowledge the intrusive colonization that resulted in land theft and the generational trauma created by the forced removal of native tribes from their Colorado ancestral lands. We recognize the 1864 tragedy of the Sand Creek Massacre under the command of Colonel John Chivington of the United States Cavalry, carried out by the Colorado Territory Regiment and Colorado volunteers. We honor the First People of Colorado, respect their Indigenous traditions and culture, and with their approval and guidance, intend to share this history through music and dance with our students and our community.
