Colorado’s Pop Rock Choir (CPRC) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit community choir dedicated to building community, creating lifelong singing opportunities, and strengthening music education through performance, outreach, and support.
Founded in 2021 by longtime educator Marie Hayden, CPRC was created from one deeply held belief: the opportunity to sing should not end after high school or college. After spending more than twenty years teaching at Hinkley High School and later continuing her career in Aurora Public Schools at the elementary level, Marie saw firsthand how music builds confidence, connection, and joy. She also recognized that many adults lose access to organized musical opportunities once school ensembles and college choirs are behind them.
Colorado’s Pop Rock Choir was designed to change that.
CPRC provides a welcoming, non-audition musical home where adult singers of all backgrounds and experience levels can continue performing, build lasting friendships, and experience the joy of making music in a supportive environment. What began as a shared love of singing has grown into a vibrant volunteer choir serving singers throughout the metro Denver area.
As CPRC celebrates its fifth year, an exciting new chapter began on February 20, 2026, when the organization officially became a registered nonprofit. This milestone allows CPRC to expand its outreach, strengthen community partnerships, and deepen its commitment to using music as a force for good.
CPRC is more than a performance ensemble. Through collaborative concerts with local high schools, shared performances with student choirs, and direct charitable donations to participating school music programs, CPRC helps support and strengthen arts education where it is needed most. These intergenerational performances allow young singers to share the stage with experienced adult vocalists while reinforcing the idea that music can remain a lifelong source of confidence, belonging, and inspiration.
In addition to supporting school music programs, CPRC also uses donated funds to provide scholarship opportunities for singers who may need financial assistance so that cost is never a barrier to participation. This helps ensure that music remains accessible to adults seeking community, connection, and the opportunity to keep singing.
Every donation to Colorado’s Pop Rock Choir helps provide singer scholarships, support charitable giving to local high school music programs, purchase music and rehearsal materials, and create performances that connect generations through song.
By supporting CPRC, donors are helping adults rediscover the joy of singing while ensuring that young musicians continue to receive encouragement, opportunity, and meaningful arts experiences.
