Colorado River Food Bank

The Colorado River Food Bank (CRFB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing food and clothing free to those in need in Laughlin NV, Bullhead City AZ and Ft. Mohave AZ.  The CRFB is staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers giving of their time and energy to assist the organization fulfill its goal of reducing hunger in the tri-state service area.

Since the CRFB bank accepts clients from both Arizona and Nevada, the program has some unique challenges. Food is obtained from various sources including government agencies in both states, but can only be distributed to residents from the state the food is provided. Other food obtained from local food drives, donations and purchases may be distributed to residents of either state.

Local residents may obtain a food box once month at the CRFB. The amount of food and specific items may vary based upon several factors such as the amount of food product on hand and the number of members in the household. The CRFB objective is always the same: to provide as much food as possible to as many clients who need it as possible!

We also accept donations of clothing which in turn is offered on a first-come, first-served basis to clients who simply take the items they need from the display racks in our lobby.

 

MAJOR PROGRAMS AT CRFB:

AZ & NV MONTHLY FOOD BOXES*

Clients who meet household income level qualifications may receive a box of food once every month simply by presenting a picture identification from Laughlin, NV or Bullhead City, Fort Mohave or Mohave Valley, AZ.** Larger households (with identification for the other members) will receive larger quantities of food product.  Clients will receive food provided to CRFB under The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and/or donated or purchased food.  Clients may receive food boxes from only one food bank in the local area since all food banks receive their TEFAP allocations from the same provider.

 

NV SENIOR COMMODITY FOOD BOXES*

Clients 60 years of age or older who meet income level qualifications may receive a box of food on a designated date once each month simply by presenting a picture identification from Laughlin, NV.**   Each senior client in the household is eligible for their own food box.  Clients will receive food provided to CRFB under the USDA senior commodity program through East Valley Family Services of Las Vegas.

 

NV USDA COMMODITY FOOD BOXES*

Clients who meet household income level qualifications may receive a box of food on a designated date once every two months by presenting a picture identification from Laughlin, NV.**  One food box based on family size is issued per household.  Clients will receive food provided to CRFB under the USDA Commodity Program through the State of Nevada Food Assistance Program.

 

THREE SQUARE MOBILE PANTRY PROGRAM*

Clients from Nevada or Arizona who qualify for monthly food box assistance described above may also enroll for the Mobile Pantry program.  On the third Wednesday each month, Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas sends a truck full of approximately 14,000 pounds of food (mostly fresh produce items).  Volunteers unload the product and then bag and box it for distribution in the CRFB back parking lot.  The gates open at noon and the food is distributed in a “farmers’ market” type atmosphere from noon until 2:00 p.m.  Parking is quite a distance away, so bring a wheeled cart or cooler to help carry your food away!

 

EMERGENCY DAILY FOOD/WATER BAGS

Anyone can receive one bag per day upon request.

 

*  Clients for all programs must fall within maximum household income guidelines established for each program.

** Clients new to the area must show proof of local residency.
