Who Are We?   What Do We Do?

CommonGood Medical (formerly Hope Clinic of McKinney) is a FREE medical clinic serving low-income, uninsured Collin County families. Our vision is to continue being the full-time medical home for over 1,000 patients as we strive to create a space where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and love.  We provide care holistically — healing the body, mind and soul – and we endeavor to give the same caliber of care as offered in doctors’ offices across the community.

Our services include annual exams, sick visits, chronic disease management, well-woman exams, and labs, all of which are administered by licensed, certified medical professionals.

In 2023, CGM provided a total of 3,588 primary care patient visits for a total of over 13,038 patient appointments since opening in 2017!

We also provide assistance with medication costs through a tiered payment system, in which the clinic pays part or all of a prescription based on the patient’s household income. Through a partnership with McKinneyCare Pharmacy, CGM has provided free and low-cost prescriptions to most of the over 2,600 patients since the inception of this program. 

CommonGood Medical works with volunteers to provide in-house specialist clinics or see our established patients in their offices, including:  Gynecology, Pain Management, Optometry, Counseling, Dermatology, and Dental.  We also help our established patients with specialist referrals.

Why Support CommonGood Medical?

The lack of health insurance keeps many from seeking health care services and preventive care. People who are uninsured or underinsured are more than twice as likely to report going without needed care because of costs.  Did you know that roughly 30% of ER visits among patients with chronic conditions are potentially unnecessary, leading to $8.3 billion in additional costs, for the healthcare industry?  

The highest rate of ER use has come from CommonGood Medical's service zip code (75069). These unreimbursed costs could be passed down to taxpayers through property taxes and increased health insurance rates. We have determined that a typical CGM patient appointment costs $200, as compared to $2,700 for an ER visit.  Considering that 60% of patients responding to our survey said they decreased their ER visits since becoming a CGM patient, we know we’ve reduced ER usage and saved our community over $637,000.
