Community Action Partnership of Kern Foundation

A nonprofit organization

Among CAPK's nineteen programs, our Family Resource Centers (FRC) provide essential services to low-income families and individuals meeting them at their point of need. The Oasis Family Resource Center is the central location for services in Ridgecrest and neighboring Northeastern Kern County communities. The East Kern Family Resource Center is based in Mojave and provides services to Eastern Kern County communities--from the desert to Tehachapi.

Some of the impactful resources they provide are:

Case Management Services designed to assist parents and their children from birth to 5 years of age, so they may receive home-base and case managed services that promote early childhood learning. These services focus on improving early childhood outcomes in the areas of health, nutrition, early literacy and overall development.

Play and Learn Services which offer preschool to children ages 3 & 4 to experience learning in the classroom environment.

Summer Bridge Program for children who turn (5) before September 1st of each school year and those who are entering kindergarten for the first time can gain classroom experience for the months of July and August. The goal and focus of the staff is to prepare children for a successful entry into kindergarten.

Other Essential Services include utility assistance, parenting classes, transportation needs and emergency assistance/supplies. The Emergency Pantry is essential in providing immediate resources to low-income individuals with staples such as perishable food, hygienic toiletries and clothing.
