San Diego's Community Business Incubator (CBI) is on a mission to empower underserved youth and young adults who often bear the brunt of economic challenges in Communities of Concern. We're here to nurture their innovative ideas and transform them into pathways leading to thriving careers and sustainable businesses in high-paying fields such as STEM, coding, and energy/clean technology industries.  Through our WeThrive Business Development program, we are working diligently to transform our communities, one individual at a time. Together, we're changing the dynamics for the better!

Mission

The mission of the Community Business Incubator is to promote economic development in under-served communities (Communities of Concern) throughout San Diego.

Our focus is on supporting Opportunity Youth aged 16 to 24, guiding them to turn their entrepreneurial ideas into businesses that not only support their families but also contribute to local economic development. We firmly believe that every young person should be aware of their potential to build fulfilling careers, own successful enterprises, and craft brighter futures, regardless of their socio-economic background.

CBI:  Come Be Inspired!  Help us drive social, environmental and economic equity among Opportunity Youth

The Need

According to the National Education Association, the tentacles of the coronavirus have magnified inequities among Black and Brown students that have existed for decades. Economic hardship, limited access to health services, slow Internet speeds and lack of Internet access at home have contributed to a malaise in many young men and women - a sense of hopelessness, isolation and loss that make it hard to envision a positive future.

“Here's the reality,” says National Education Association Vice President Becky Pringle, "Structural racism is the pre-existing condition that has destined us to be where we are.   Communities of color are disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus. We shouldn't
be shocked.”

Game Changer!

WeThrive - Come Be Inspired - Live On Purpose...

Join us on our journey of purpose and empowerment with WeThrive!

The Community Business Incubator (CBI) team is thrilled of our dynamic expansion to our curriculum that seamlessly combines our expertise in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), including Coding, Robotics, and Clean Energy, with the world of business ownership. Through our innovative online and in-person training program, we provide mentorship to our youth, guiding them on the exciting path of creating their own businesses.

Together, WeThrive, we aim to empower and inspire.

With your help CBI will continue to provide innovative curriculums and program models carefully designed to reach those left behind in traditional classrooms.  Youth learn critical real world skill like financial literacy, problem solving, leadership, and building social capital.  Every youth participant receives seed funding, and support towards launching their companies, and post program support, ensuring that everyone is set up for success

You can make a significant impact by supporting our 'Scholars Partnership' with San Diego State  University's SAGE Project.  Through this collaboration, CBI teams up with talented and motivated SDS students who bring their creative energy to our WeThrive - Live On Purpose program.  Our goal is to raise $25,000 to engage SDSU and pay for our new students

One way you can help is helping us fund  our 'Scholars Partnership' with San Diego State University's SAGE Project, whereby CBI engages talented, motivated SDSU students to lend their creative energies to CBI's WeThrive - Live On Purpose....  This year, we're raising $25,000 to engage SDSU students across multiple disciplines to update our curriculum in ways that deliver exciting, engaging training to equip our youth to earn certifications, secure apprenticeships with successful global companies in the multi-billion-dollar animation trades and find successful, rewarding career paths that can last a lifetime.   And for those interested in building their own businesses in these lucrative trades, CBI's business mentoring and financial literacy partners will guide them along the way.

From Consumers to Creators
The classroom we're building for this new endeavor (and that we're seeking your help in funding) is called The Inspiration Express -- it's a 39' hybrid-electric mobile training lab that accommodates 10 students per class, acquainting them with state-of-the-art storyboarding and design tools, software and hardware that equips students with pre-apprenticeship credentials to land exciting apprenticeships with world-class gaming and animation shops.

Please help us finalize the update of our curriculum by donating today!    Then, come back and allow us to show you what you helped us create -- and to introduce you to the youth we're helping go from consumers to well-paid, in-demand creators!

"We want to go where the kids are...and where the community needs us."
