Community Connections for Youth, Inc

The Problem: It costs taxpayers $200,000/year to incarcerate one young person in NY, yet the money spent on incarceration has produced a horrible return on investment.  80% of incarcerated youth re-offend within three years of release.

The Solution: Community-based alternatives are cheaper and more effective.  $5000/year provides youth with a support system that can change their lives.  Mentoring and developing a youth’s strengths and interests has been shown to be dramatically more effective than incarceration, reducing recidivism rates between 8-36%.

What CCFY Does:  More than improving rates and saving dollars, CCFY’s work reshapes lives and communities. CCFY works with youth who need help to see a brighter future. The community harbors leaders who can help youth both see and achieve this future. CCFY connects these youth and community leaders and ensures the leaders are equipped to do this life changing and community-transforming work.
