A Legacy of Learning in Seattle's Central District

Community Day Center for Children Inc is a very special place. It is a place where children can be children, and adults can feel secure leaving their most precious little people under our loving, attentive care.

We provide a range of services to address the special needs of children, and a variety of fun activities to keep them comfortable and happy during the time family members have to be away. We treat every child who comes to visit with us like one of our own, and the little ones flourish in our understanding, encouraging environment.

Founded in 1963 by Lula “Mama” Martin, Community Day Center for Children began with the concept of being a learning safe haven for children ages one to five years. Mama Martin believed in social justice and the importance of all children having equitable access to quality early learning experiences. She was a pioneer who understood the importance of brain science.  She innately taught her staff and families why children must be exposed to positive educational interactions before research confirmed what she instinctively knew to be imperative to a child’s growth - providing environments that promote thriving students.  CDCC is still committed to these philosophies.  Our leadership team encourages interactions between staff and children that helps our students have successful outcomes.

At Community Day Center for Children Inc, we offer a whole environment specially tailored to help little people grow into healthy, happy bigger people. Most parents find it stressful to leave their children when they have to be away for work or other obligations. Community Day Center for Children Inc makes sure them completely comfortable and confident in the quality of care we provide our students.
