Making Disability A Possibility

CIDA, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Queens, is dedicated to enhancing equity and promoting inclusion opportunities for children and families facing diverse challenges such as disabilities, language and cultural barriers, and socioeconomic hardships. To realize this mission, CIDA bolsters community capacity through parent training, advocacy, inclusive programs, and workforce development projects. Additionally, CIDA collaborates with a wide array of community stakeholders and partners, employing innovative approaches to foster inclusion for individuals of all abilities and diverse backgrounds

Our Approach

CIDA empowers individuals with disabilities and families with exceptional needs and through advocacy, parent training, family support services, and youth programs. Moving away from the position that defines persons with disabilities as recipients of welfare and services, our work focuses on building the capacity of individuals with disabilities to exercise their right to lead self-determined lives and to pursue economic activities for independent living

Why CIDA is unique

  • We are a parent-led organization addressing the real needs of their families
  • Our work is regularly informed by family feedback so that we design and deliver high-impact services
  • We track and report every investment: We design our programs to produce targeted results so that donors and sponsors can monitor the impact of their contributions to the community.
