Every day Community Ministry of Prince George's County (CMGPC), an interfaith 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and community health resource, seeks to help low-wage workers, near homeless, and homeless people meet their human service needs. CMPGC also engages community members, partner churches, supporting universities, medical organizations, and others, and collaboratively this multi-disciplined team helps members of targeted communities improve their health outcomes and quality of life.
To help the homeless, near homeless, and low-wage workers continue to receive food assistance during COVID-19 restrictions, we transitioned our Community Place Café (CPC) free lunch program to the new CPC Food Assistance Program (FAP). Through the CPC FAP, partners, including churches, provide food assistance directly to registered CPC guests' residences or locations without requesting anyone leave their residences. Church partners agreed to send food assistance (e.g., food gift cards, food) directly to their assigned CPC guests to help them meet their basic food needs.
CMPGC continues to collaborate with the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins University and added collaboration with the University of Maryland Baltimore Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center in implementing cancer research, cancer education, and other health education and research projects in Prince George’s County, Baltimore, and now across Maryland.
Via social media, CMPGC helps The Maryland Center at Bowie State University provide awareness information to encourage youth and others to avoid vaping or using tobacco. CMPGC also encourages youth to avoid violence.
Our strategy is to leverage hundreds of volunteers including members of the Faith Community from to deliver relevant services in a cost-effective and timely manner. This allows us to deliver services to thousands of needy and underserved persons in an efficient manner.
CMPGC staff members and volunteers are experiencing growing requests for basic food, shelter, and health needs as the economy continues to struggle. Your gifts and donations enable our small staff supported by hundreds of volunteers help thousands of needy individuals and families meet their basic needs and help improve health outcomes among populations in underserved communities.
