Community Services Council of Woodbury

$62,657 raised by 223 donors

At Community Service Council of Woodbury, neighbors help neighbors; quietly, compassionately, and when it matters most.

When a local family faced an unexpected heating crisis last month with a broken furnace, CSCW was able to step in and provide emergency energy assistance to keep their home warm and safe. Helping to ease the burden during an already stressful time is what we do best.

Stories like this unfold every day in our community. A senior on a fixed income receiving groceries. A parent finding relief after a sudden job loss. A child starting the school year with the supplies they need to succeed and now in 2026 no child will go hungry during the summer months as we launch a summer meal program for families in Woodbury that need extra support!

Behind each moment is a network of caring individuals; donors, volunteers, and community partners; who believe that no one in Woodbury should face hardship alone.

Through programs that provide food, emergency financial assistance, and essential support services, CSCW is more than an organization; it’s a lifeline. And with your help during Give Local, we can continue to be there for every neighbor who needs us.

Who We Are

The critical importance of the Community Services Council’s food, energy and crisis assistance programs has never been greater than we face today as we come together in compassion to meet the basic needs of Woodbury families in financial need. Thanks to the caring service of so many dedicated volunteers, the Woodbury Food Bank remains committed during these challenging times to ensure weekly access for the more than 150 households we serve to receive fundamental nutritional support. The Council’s energy and crisis assistance programs continue to provide a necessary bridge of support to overcome unforeseen setbacks due to lost income, unemployment or illness.

The CSCW serves low-income households residing in Woodbury by meeting critical needs for nutritional, energy and crisis assistance. The Woodbury Food Bank provides weekly access to secure staple nonperishable goods, fresh produce, meat and fish, and basic household goods, providing freedom of choice to meet individual needs. The CSCW energy assistance program offers support to meet urgent heating oil, propane and electricity requirements. The CSCW crisis assistance program reviews client requests for short-term help with critical emergency needs including housing, medical, utility and transportation obligations, seeking the most effective means to restore the family’s financial security. Our fundamental objective is to provide assistance with profound respect for the individuals and families we serve, offering support to meet their fundamental needs and empowering them to move forward confidently in assuming personal responsibility for their well-being.
