Mission

We provide our clients, their dependent families, and caregivers appealing, nutritious meals, reaching out to those in greatest need. Every day we prepare and deliver 700 freshly made meals that are specifically tailored to meet the complex nutritional needs of individuals battling a life-threatening illness. Our goals are to help our clients maintain their health and dignity, provide nutritionally and culturally appropriate meals, preserve the integrity of their family, and send the message that someone cares.

Programs

Community Servings offers the following services for men, women, and children living with illness: Daily home-delivered meals that are geared specifically to meet their nutritional needs. Biweekly delivery of nutritional supplements to clients who require them and are unable to obtain them from any other source. Nutritional assessment and counseling with our registered dietitian, including home visits for the most nutritionally vulnerable. Transition Packets to help clients whose health improves learn how to meal plan and shop on a budget as they transition off of our meal service. We serve 700 individuals and families living with illness in the cities and towns of Boston, Braintree, Brockton, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Lawrence, Lynn, Malden, Medford, Quincy, Randolph, Revere, Somerville, Weymouth and Winthrop, Massachusetts. We serve a diverse population and reach out to Greater Boston's historically underserved populations. Our clients come from very diverse backgrounds and represent many different ethnicities. 95%, however, are living in poverty. 54% are men, 46% are women. 63% of our meals go to people of color, including African-American, Latino, Haitian, and Cape Verdean clients. Children and families receive 40% of our meals, and 63% of their caregivers are single parents.
